Nothing breaks. The 3 plants you have keep working exactly as they did — checks, verdicts, history, diagnosis. You just can't add a 4th until you upgrade.
No. Every feature is on both plans. The only difference is how many plants you can keep in your home.
A four-in-one soil meter — the cheap analog kind with a probe, no batteries, no app of its own. It reads moisture, light, temperature, and humidity, and Plant Tender reads the meter from a photo.
It's a one-time purchase and any brand works. Here's the one I use.
Any time, from the Home settings page. You keep Pro through the end of the billing period you already paid for, then your home reverts to Free.
Plants above the free limit stay in your account — they don't get deleted. You just can't add new ones past 3 until you resubscribe.
Not automatically, but if something is genuinely wrong — a double charge, a renewal after you cancelled, the app broken for a stretch of your billing period — email [email protected] and I'll refund what's fair. See the terms for the full version.

Yes. Pro is per home, not per person. Invite your partner, your roommate, whoever waters things while you're away — one subscription covers all of them.
